Chrome Extension Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy for Tab Auto Refresh

Tab Auto Refresh is a Chrome extension built to help users automatically reload the current browser tab at selected time intervals. This policy explains what data the extension may access, how that data is used, and how user privacy is protected.

1. Who We Are

Tab Auto Refresh is a browser extension designed for automatic tab refreshing, countdown tracking, and refresh interval management on tabs selected by the user.

2. Information We Collect

Tab Auto Refresh does not collect personally identifiable information such as name, address, email address, phone number, account credentials, payment information, or personal messages through normal use of the extension.

The extension may access limited tab and timer information only as needed to provide its core functionality. This may include:

  • Current active tab ID
  • Current tab URL or hostname for display inside the popup
  • Selected refresh interval
  • Timer active or inactive status
  • Next scheduled refresh time
  • Countdown and extension badge status

Tab Auto Refresh does not collect health information, payment information, authentication data, personal messages, precise location data, or browsing history.

3. How We Use Data

Any tab-related information accessed by Tab Auto Refresh is used only for the extension's single purpose:

  • Automatically refreshing the selected browser tab
  • Managing preset or custom refresh intervals
  • Displaying active or inactive timer status
  • Showing a live countdown in the popup and extension badge
  • Restoring active timers after browser or extension restart

Tab Auto Refresh does not use accessed data for advertising, profiling, analytics, tracking, or any unrelated secondary purpose.

4. Permissions Used

tabs

Used to identify the active browser tab, display the tab hostname, reload the selected tab, confirm whether a tab still exists, and clean up timers when tabs are closed.

alarms

Used to schedule automatic tab refreshes and update the countdown badge while a timer is active.

storage

Used to store timer settings locally in the browser, including the selected interval, active status, and next refresh time.

5. Data Sharing

Tab Auto Refresh does not sell, rent, transfer, or share user data with third parties, except where required by law or where necessary to prevent fraud, abuse, or security threats.

6. Data Storage and Retention

Tab Auto Refresh does not store personal data on external servers as part of its normal operation.

Timer data is stored locally using Chrome's local extension storage. This data may include the tab ID, selected interval, active status, and next refresh time. The extension removes timer data when a tab is closed, and users can remove stored extension data by clearing browser extension data or uninstalling the extension.

7. Remote Code

Tab Auto Refresh does not use remote code. All JavaScript, HTML, CSS, icons, and assets required for the extension are packaged within the extension itself.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to ensure the extension is designed and maintained in a way that protects user privacy and limits data use strictly to the extension's single purpose.

9. Children's Privacy

Tab Auto Refresh is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product improvements, legal requirements, or policy updates. Any revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
